Music To Make To – Lamb

Gentle Reader,

One of my favorite bands of all time is a duo named Lamb; if you’ve not heard of the name you’ve probably heard one of their songs – Gorecki is perhaps one of the greatest love songs ever recorded and seems to be one of those songs everyone’s heard but don’t know who it is.

You know how there are those certain songs and albums that attain a level almost akin to divinity to you? They become so much a part of your heart that you can’t even imagine what your life or your awareness might be like if you’d never heard them? Well, that’s Lamb for me. It’s hard for me to describe Lamb’s music, because so much of is so intimately tied to memories and people and experiences from my late teens onwards that I couldn’t possibly provide an objective point of reference for it but I’ll try. Lamb’s music is gorgeous, haunting, euphoric, achingly sad and just straight up amazing.

So after an eight year hiatus, they released a brand new album this year, “5”, which I somehow didn’t hear about until now, and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am. There might have been a little bit of pee, but please don’t judge me.

So, I’d like to share with you a song from this new album and a song from one of their older albums, and if you like them, I hope you’ll take time to discover their previous albums and that you adore them as much as I do.

  1. Music to make to? Marty Robbins’ “Gunfighter Ballads” anything with Charlie Parker and I’ve got a bit of a thing for Madeleine Peyroux’s music of late.

  2. Hi ShyIion,

I enjoy your blog very much. Your execution of traditional crafts is skilled and respectful of the source; yet natural and cheeky. Also I’m getting to explore all these new tunes “to make to”. To show my appreciation I have nominated you for a Most Versatile Blogger Award.

p.s. To make to, I’ve been listening to a lot of vintage Reggae, Ska and feel good R&B – Bob Marley, The Skatalites, Maze. This is a holdover from my summer play list. I’m trying to hold on to every last drop of summertime goodness; as I make the woolens for the winter to come.

    • Thank you so much! That’s so kind of you 🙂

I’ve never listened to very much Reggae, so perhaps I’ll have to educate myself as we head into spring and summer ^_~
